Very few contemporary craftsmen have Robert Ogden’s eye for detail. For his namesake Warehouse Table Lamp, this self-taught artist and metalsmith scoured flea markets, factories and junk shops in search of machinery, vintage doodads and decorative doohickeys that ultimately come together in a hodgepodge of hauteness. A one-of-a-kind work of industrial art, the height-adjustable lamp distinguishes itself with a blue quilted mercury shade (circa 1930, discovered in a warehouse near Kansas City), knobs salvaged from steam boilers and water spigots, a cuckoo clock pinecone counterweight and a belt wheel base from an early woodworking machine.
