This Cocktail Lounge Is Built Inside an Airplane Cabin

Years ago, we dropped the news that Eero Saarinen’s iconic TWA Terminal that was part of JFK International Airport was getting converted into a new boutique hotel that would check all the vintage luxury meets modern convenience boxes you would look for in lodging. But it gets better. There’s also a 1958 Lockheed Constellation Strainer airpane dubbed Connie parked right outside that has recently been renovated into a retro-themed cocktail bar that’s now open to the public. Much of the original decor remains–and there are plenty of nods to Saarinen himself–but there are plenty of modern touches that help make it a functional and usable space. With plenty of libation options, a purposeful lack of leg room issues and an overall old-school vibe, the Connie Cocktail Lounge is the perfect destination for those of you that want to step into the past without abandoning all the creature comforts of modern indulgence.
