We don’t care how incredible the view, astronauts must get bored up in space. Hell, they’re cooped up in tight quarters for days on end; who wouldn’t get bored? Mattel wants to help those space explorers kill some time with the new Scrabble Space Edition. The game is exactly what you think: a version of the popular board game made for zero gravity. Psychologists have long recommend astronauts play games like Scrabble to keep sane while on a mission, but the makeshift Velcro version many used is far from aesthetically pleasing. Mattel stepped in with a metallic board, magnetized tiles, and a heavy dose of style. Mattel will display the boards briefly in London and Paris before sending them off to space stations for actual use.
