Finding a decent apartment that doesn’t cost a fortune in New York City is next to impossible. Usually you end up with a modified closet that isn’t conducive to living. Enter the Micro Apartment. My Micro NY won a design competition back in 2013 to design an affordable living space that was, shockingly, actually meant for living, and now we’re getting close to the first unit being available. Currently being assembled in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, each apartment will range from 260- to 360-square-feet and will be available to rent for $2,000-$3,000 a month. While rent might not seem affordable to people outside of NYC, any New Yorker would appreciate that price for a place that was actually designed well and placed inside a building with balconies, big windows, and ample storage space. Trust us, it could be much, much worse.
