If you’re looking for a house built by a famous designer, you can own the J.M. Roberts Residence designed by Richard Neutra. You’re probably already familiar with the work of the Austrian-born Neutra, but if you’re not, he’s one of the most important modernist architects that ever lived. Neutra’s spider leg detailing, asymmetric compositions and modular grid styling are all present in the J.M. Roberts Residence, a house designed in 1955 and scheduled for demolition in 2014. Thankfully, new owners purchased the property and brought in an architectural historian and master craftsman to restore the residence to its original glory. Stepping through the textbook mid-century modern property will have you finding new favorite elements like a tongue and groove ceiling or Texas shellstone fireplace at every turn, but our absolute favorite has to be the floor to ceiling mitered glass corner window in the master bedroom that overlooks a koi pond and live oak tree.
