We’re all for shipping container houses, but there’s something to be said for a similarly geometric style built with a more traditional architectural setup. Enter the North Bondi Residence from Australian firm CplusC and you’ll see exactly what we’re talking about. Named for its location in the coastal suburb of Sydney known as North Bondi, this residence takes a relatively square floor plan and transforms it into something completely magnificent through the use of material contrast and the perforated CplusC style. Concrete seamlessly mixes with steel that mixes with wood that mixes with marble that mixes with glass to create a “stunning family residence which is both a springboard for entertaining and a private family retreat.” With a downstairs area for entertaining complete with glass lap pool, dining area and BBQ space, along with the private upstairs space with bedrooms and an outdoor green space, this is a house that’s as equally suited for a quite night in as it is a dinner party.

Unzip your coat and have some mulled wine on the house—you’ve arrived at your final gifting destination: The Holiday Gift Guide. It’s like your friendly neighborhood one-stop holiday shop, except instead of balsa wood ornaments, ours is packed with thoughtful gifts for everyone on your list. Future heirlooms, small-but-significant stocking stuffers, and gear for getting out there (or staying in)—are all right here. There’s no music playing in the background though, so you’ll just have to hum Bing Crosby while you click around instead.
