Haugen Zohar Architects Uredd Memorial Plaza

Haugen Zohar Architects–aka HZA–is an Oslo, Norway based collective founded over a decade ago that’s spent that time establishing itself as a national and international shop by creating projects that bridge the overlap between architecture, function and art. There is perhaps no better indication of what HZA is capable of than the Uredd Memorial Plaza that was erected along the Norwegian Scenic Route Helgandskysten. Designed and built as a sort of modern reimagining of what’s possible in a rest area, this multi-functional piece of art, design and usability includes a new concrete viewing terrace, seatins benches, an ampitheater that leads to the beach area, elegantly carved stairs and a curved canopy public toilet, amongst other peaceful and modern renovations to the space. It’s like Red Rocks with a fair bit of modern innovation and ingenuity.
