No trip to the Art Institute in Chicago is complete without a trip to visit Edward Hopper’s iconic Nighthawks painting. That piece might be his most famous work, but Hopper spent his entire life creating pieces equally as poignant that would go on to define his career and cement his standing as a key figure in 20th century American art. In order to commemorate his work, nine of his paintings were brought to life as interactive, digital art pieces with subtle, moving additions that transform each of them from stoic still images to animated short stories. The collection of modified work is titled ‘Edward Hopper in Motion’, and it features modern versions of the nine following works: Automat, Chop Suey, Hotel Window, House By The Railroad, Lighthouse Hill, Morning Sun, New York Movie, Nighthawks, and People In The Sun.
