Hemp has been the “next big thing” in manufacturing since puka shell necklaces were still this season’s must have accessory. Turns out the billion dollar crop actually has many more applications than we anticipated … including its use as part of a hemp-flax fiber composite that actually makes a decent looking pair of sunglasses. Each pair of frames is created using heat for compression and molding, and then curing and treating with eco-friendly bio resin for protection and durability. No word yet from Hemp Eyewear about pricing or availability, but the sunglasses made from the strongest plant fiber in the world are set to debut by the holiday season of this year.
