Holiday Tree Hunting

Holiday Tree Hunting

This time of year, we’d like nothing more than to pour ourselves a hot drink and ride out the cold weather in front of a fire. Hibernation sounds ideal. While that’s how we’d love to spend our winter days, there’s still work to be done that requires we brave the blustery cold. – Mike Newman

On the first truly cold day of the season, the day when I could first feel the air pinpricking my lungs, I went out to chop a Christmas tree for my home. I turned to Levi’s for some layers that could keep me warm without constricting my movement. I paired the Wool Trucker Jacket with a comfortable button-down and a pair of 513 jeans for a fitted look that still allowed me to toss around a tree.

As I hopped out of the car, I received an icy slap across the face. I expected to either be freezing cold but able to move freely, or nice and toasty but looking like Ralphie from A Christmas Story. Luckily, that wasn’t the case. While the wind took a toll on my face, the Levi’s gear kept me warm without being cumbersome.

After an hour of walking down rows of trees and inspecting a handful of potential winners, I settled on a fir that was the right height and shape for my pad. An hour of pushing through branches left plenty of needles strewn across my coat and jeans, but the Wool Trucker Jacket and sturdy denim took the beating without any scratches to be seen.

After sawing the tree down, running it through the binder, and tossing it on the roof, I brushed myself off and headed home with nothing worse than a pair of chapped lips. When you need to be able to function out in the cold this season, gear up with some of our favorite pieces from Levi’s below.
