What MREs Look Like as Michelin Starred Meals
From MRE to Michelin is a new collaborative project that turns standard military rations into plates you’d expect from Michelin starred restaurants. Chef Chuck George partnered with videographer Jimmy Pham and photographer Henry Hargreaves (the guy responsible for those iconic death row meals pictures) to create photos and a video that turn MREs into meals you’d actually want to eat. We never thought we’d want to eat vegetable taco pasta with crackers and a plastic bag garnish, but somehow it looks delicious when put together and documented by this team. It’s also quite interesting to see the differences between what the U.S., Russia, China, Lithuania, and France considers a meal ready to eat, because the quality varies wildly from country to country. We had no idea it was possible to turn anything that came out of one of those bland packages into something that actually looks appetizing but they did it.
