Video Game Classics

Regardless of where you stand on the whole “video games as art” debate (for the record, we’re for it), they involve some aspect of art – even if it’s only the cover. If movie posters (which usually end up becoming some aspect of the DVD or VHS jacket) are considered art, why not video game covers? Maybe it’s just an obsession with hi-res graphics, all-night Halo deathmatches or zombies, but the cover art has gotten a little boring. Olly Moss decided to revamp the art from a number of video game classics by applying the tried and true Penguin Classics treatment and a little bit of artistic know-how. What he ended up with is this collection of Video Game Classics which features revamped art for GoldenEye, Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Ocarina of Time, GTA IV and Half-Life rendered artistically enough to hang on your wall.
