We can think of a lot of clever things to do with an iPhone 4. Most of them involve the kind of stuff that made Ron Jeremy famous and Tiger Woods broke, but there’s still a few safe for work uses we can think of. Banking, hipstamaticing, and “pwning nubs” just to name a few. Luke Geissbuhler and his son dreamt way bigger than we ever could though. They sent their iPhone 4 to space. SPACE! Weather balloon, iPhone 4, and HD camera combined – in the most productive way any of those devices have ever been used – to give you the awesome pictures and video you see here. We can’t imagine a 19 mile descent at 150mph is covered under warranty, so head over to the Brooklyn Space Program and support them for the next mission.

Unzip your coat and have some mulled wine on the house—you’ve arrived at your final gifting destination: The Holiday Gift Guide. It’s like your friendly neighborhood one-stop holiday shop, except instead of balsa wood ornaments, ours is packed with thoughtful gifts for everyone on your list. Future heirlooms, small-but-significant stocking stuffers, and gear for getting out there (or staying in)—are all right here. There’s no music playing in the background though, so you’ll just have to hum Bing Crosby while you click around instead.
