Here’s yet another bit of militaria you can add to your closet. Huckberry is the exclusive vendor for the US Rubber Co.’s rerelease of its high top sneakers. It’s a shoe pulled straight out of the 1890s, when US Rubber Co. bought Charles Goodyear’s shoe business and gained access to his process to make vulcanized rubber. They almost immediately adapted vulcanized rubber from Goodyear’s galoshes to make the world’s first vulcanized sneaker, minting the first version of a sneaker whose profile is still kicking around in modern Converse and got US Rubber Co. a military production contract. This rerelease is their way to pay tribute to nearly a century and a half of high quality, historic footwear.
