For the most part fire pits aren’t exactly setting the world on fire in terms of design—with the exception of the Third Rock Fire Pit, which does so quite literally. Designed by functional steel artist Rick Wittrig, the pit represents the burning inner core of our planet which evokes the same feeling we get after a night of drinking around a fire—that we’re deep and invincible. Each fire pit is individually signed and numbered by the artist and made of a quarter inch thick carbon steel. Over time the pit will darken nicely thanks to an iron oxide finish. It measures roughly 42” tall and 36” in diameter, although measurements vary slightly since each one is crafted by hand.
