When it comes to New Year’s Eve beverages, there’s only one essential option: Champagne. You better have a few bottles of bubbly at your NYE party. But, if you want to mix things up a bit, we’d recommend offering a Champagne cocktail. As punch bowls have risen in popularity among contemporary drinkers, it feels appropriate to share a recipe for a wintry Champagne punch.

This particular batch of Champagne punch offers big fruit characteristics and plenty of refreshing fizziness while staying balanced. It’s a crowd pleaser that will bring you guests back for more. Champagne Punch Ingredients

Champagne – Naturally, for this celebratory drink, you’ll want to start off with a good Brut Champagne. You can certainly sub in another bubbly wine but Champagne will stay fizzy for much longer. We wouldn’t necessarily recommend grabbing the most expensive bottle of Champagne for this punch but there are a few solid options at a reasonable price range. We’d recommend Tarlant, Delamotte, Laherte.

Brandy – Whatever brandy you happen to have on hand should be sufficient for this punch. If you’re looking to pick up a new bottle, Hennessy is always an easy choice. Otherwise, we’d recommend Courvoisier or Rémy Martin.

Cointreau – The original recipe for this punch specifically calls for Cointreau but this is an area where you could experiment with different orange liqueurs. Consider trying Bauchant Orange Liqueur or Short Path Distillery Triple Sec.

Club Soda – Choose whichever club soda you like but, for our money, we’re always reaching for a bottle of Canada Dry.

Fruit – Any bowl of punch requires a heaping pile of fresh fruit. You can use any seasonal fruits you think would work well together. But for this recipe, we’re recommending strawberries, oranges, and pineapple. Some good alternatives would include cherries, grapefruit, and peaches.

Mint – Finally, you’ll want to have some fresh mint on hand. You can swap in some other herbs for your garnish but mint works best in this holiday cocktail.

Champagne Punch Recipe

  1. Put 8-10 strawberries in a large punch bowl, muddle into small pieces, and add ice.
  2. Add in 1 bottle of Champagne, 1.5 ounces of brandy, 1.5 ounces of Cointreau, and 1 liter of club soda.
  3. Stir to combine,
  4. Garnish with 1 orange rind, slices from 1 orange, slices from 1 pineapple, and mint.
  5. Ladle into ice-filled highball glasses, top with fresh mint, and enjoy
