In fact, we’d go so far as to say that the Matthew McConaughey- and Woody Harrelson-led eight-parter might be the finest single season of a television show ever made. Then there’s the second season. Let’s not get into that. Hoping recapture the macabre magic of the first season, True Detective Season 3 is on the way, and it now stars Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, House of Cards). Ali plays Detective Wayne Hays, an agent working to solve a mystery that’s plagued the Ozarks. The show returns to HBO in January. Here’s your first look.
