Dissolve is a stock footage and photography company that took some of their pieces and created the hilarious and topical “This Is a Generic Millennial Ad” to mock marketing targeted at millennials. Created with And/Or studio, “This Is a Generic Millennial Ad parodies the multinational brands that pay lip service to the youth market with meaningless hashtags, misplaced emojis, slang that’s totes old, and stale pitches to ‘join the conversation.'” From pink hair and dancing in the streets, to thought leaders, peace parties, rainbow brands, hashtags and spontaneous displays of patriotism, Dissolve tackles all the tropes that keep popping up in advertising pieces of the past few years. The video is simultaneously topical and hilarious, but the best part is that it’s created entirely with Dissolve stock footage, which also makes it a meta sales tool.
