Grayson Castro is our kind of artist.  He takes iconic images of, well, icons… and zombifies them.  As zombies hit a sort of renaissance in today’s pop culture (along with, unfortunately, vampires), Castro saw fit to take it into the high-brow world of art. Each painting is of a famous figure–Audrey Heburn, Dolly Parton, McCain and Obama (each with a tasty piece of baby), and even Lindsay Lohan, who looks alarmingly normal even as a zombie mess).  Blood splatter, beady dead eyes, and menacing stares adorn our favorite public figures.  They’ve vibrant and pretty–sort of the antithesis of zombiness–but perhaps that’s what makes them amusing and compelling.  Also, there’s a pretty hot one of zombie stripper kneeling in a pile of cash.

Vaer has been one of our favorite watchmakers for as long as we can remember because they produce new, classic watches based on iconic designs. Case in point, the Vaer G5 Meridian watch you see here. This timepiece is a 1950s-inspired 20ATM automatic watch that’s USA-assembled, dual timezone, built with ocean-ready functionality, self-winding and the brand’s first true GMT (the latest version of their core dive watch design). What’s more, it pays homage to other watches that are incredibly more expensive or hard to come by whilst also adding new aspects that makes this Vaer G5 Meridian watch more desirable than the other options in our opinion.
