Everyone knows that the future of motoring is electric, but few brands have gotten behind that initiative as much as Volkswagen has with their line of ID-badged electric vehicles. In addition to the electrified classics like the ID BUZZ Bus, and the MEB Dune Buggy, they just revealed that there would be an electric, mid-size crossover SUV in the mix based on the ID Roomzz concept and going by the name ID.6. The ID.6 rides on a stretched-out version of the flexible MEG platform–like the dune buggy–and features multiple powertrain options (including at least one dual-motor system delivering around 302 horsepower, 0-62 time around 6.6 seconds and top speed of around 111 mph). Much like the ID Roomzz concept it’s based on, it’s expected to feature at least an 82-kilowatt-hour Lithium-ion battery good for 250 miles of range and fast-charging that will get it up to 80% charge in about 30 minutes. The supposed direct competitor to the Tesla Model X is expected to be on sale in early 2021.
