Don’t let its classic Porsche good looks and rear-engine layout fool you, the RUF 2017 CTR is anything but a Porsche. Unveiled at Geneva, this new RUF CTR is the first RUF sports car to be based on a chassis completely of the firm’s own design and pays tribute to the 1987 CTR “Yellow Bird.” After five years of design and development, RUF arrived at this: a rear-engine carbon fiber monocoque chassis sports car powered by a twin-turbo 3.6L flat-six. The combination of that engine, six-speed manual transmission and lightweight construction means the RUF 2017 CTR develops 700 horsepower and 649 pound-feet of torque, which leads to a top speed over 220mph with 0-62 mph in less than three seconds and 0-124mph in less than nine seconds. The car is still a prototype at this point, but series production of a limited run of 30 units is scheduled to begin in 2018 in Germany.
