ICON Defender D90

ICON Defender D90

From their Dodge Power Wagon and VW Bus, to their Bronco and reimagined Chevrolet 3100 Thriftmaster, California-based ICON has a way of taking vehicles that were already iconic in their own right and turning them into even more incredible machines. Case in point, the ICON Defender D90. What started as a 1995 Land Rover Defender 90 was reworked into what you see here over the course of 18 months by the very capable hands at ICON. The diesel was ditched in favor of a GM Erod 424 HP LS3 V8 (triple the horsepower and torque of the original while also reducing emissions and increasing efficiency). Custom bumpers with built-in LED lighting, CNC’ed hinges throughout and a re-imagined cage that fits under the custom Mercedes canvas soft top. Almost no part of the original design remains untouched, and yet the Icon version is so well done that it seems like it should have looked like this from the factory.
