With the Model 3 as Tesla’s primary focus, that electric pickup truck Elon Musk hinted at a while back isn’t going to be ready for a bit. In the meantime, Workhorse has swooped in and released an electric pickup of their own, the W-15. The W-15 is powered by Panasonic 18650 lithium-ion batteries along with a standard gas engine for trips that exceed the 80-mile electric range. Step inside and you’ll be greeted with an interior reminiscent of a Cat smartphone, meaning it has some tech but leans more rugged than sleek. A power export makes the W-15 ideal for the job site, as you can juice power tools from the vehicle’s battery pack. And if you like some briskness with that brawn, the Workhorse W-15 Pickup boasts a 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds. Production starts next year and pre-orders are being taken now, so if you can’t wait a few years for that Tesla, you have another option.
