The outgoing Silverado was not at the top of the heavy-duty pickup truck heap largely because of its overly harsh ride and somewhat chintzy interior. The new Silverado HD aims to resolve those issues as well as provide more prodigious gas (and diesel) power. The Duramax 6.6L turbo-diesel V8 delivers 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque while the gas-powered version churns out 401 hp and 464 lb-ft. The turbodiesel can now tow up to 36,000 pounds, which eclipses the old truck’s capabilities. The new styling is also more refined but still truck-y. Gone is the blocky grille and stacked headlights, replaced by a totally new fascia bracketed lighting setup. The new Silverado HD Will also get a fresh interior with an optional 12.3-inch driver information display, a 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, a wireless phone charger, high-end leather, and real wood trim. Features like Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailer that allows for increased braking distances when towing, as well as Enhanced Transparent Trailer help with additional safety measures. You can also choose various appearance packages to suit your desires. The new HD will debut at the State Fair of Texas on September 29th and will go on sale in early 2023.
