2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan

Elon Musk might want to start looking over his shoulder now that the mainstream premium brands are going after him with their own luxury EVs. The latest entrant is the Mercedes-Benz EQS, and it’s what you might consider an electric Merc S Class. The EQS takes after its Vision EQS Concept predecessor and is based on the brand’s new dedicated Electric Vehicle Architecture platform that gives the model its own distinct look. The “one-bow,” cab-forward design gives it a four-door coupe look, coupled with a big hood that overlaps the front fenders, sleek flush door handles, and a full front light bar that unifies the LED headlights. In terms of trims and power, there’s the EQS 450+ with 329 horsepower coming from a rear motor; the more potent and upscale EQS 580 4MATIC with two asynchronous motors good for 516 horses; and finally a 630-horsepower high-performance version that may wear the AMG badge. Inside, the expansive dash utilizes three high-res screens for instrumentation, controls, and infotainment. It’s called the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) Hyperscreen, and it’s rife with cutting edge technology and intuitive features. More details and pricing will be released, along with a sale date in the coming months.
