2021 DeLorean Concept

While there are plenty of reasons we love Back to the Future, the DeLorean easily beats out the hoverboard and self-lacing sneakers for the coolest piece of kit from the films. We were promised that the DeLorean is going back into production years ago, but that never quite materialized. Car designer Angel Guerra–who most recently did a five year stint at Rimac Automobili–took matters into his own hands by redesigning the car that made him want to become a designer in the first place. Behold, the modern version of the DeLorean. While it certainly would have been possible, and easier, to just streamline the boxy exterior and slap on some bigger wheels–both of which he did–Guerra went much deeper by reinterpreting the design language of the original creator Giorgetto Giuguaro to create his version that looks much more like a modern supercar. In addition to the sleek lines and fatter “turbine” wheels, the square lights were replaced with continuous LED stripe lights, but the rear trunk blades and gullwing doors remain intact. If this version went into production, we’d be the first in line to buy one.
