The standoff at the Waco compound is ripe for television adaptation. It has everything modern people love in a story, with the added benefit of being true. If you don’t know the story, here’s a quick primer. David Koresh founded his own religious cult and kept his followers captive on a compound in Waco, Texas. The FBI treated it as a hostage situation, but bungled the whole thing and ended up burning the compound down with the people inside. It wasn’t a proud moment for anyone involved. Most of the coverage of the event came from journalists kept at a distance, so it’ll be interesting to see what the miniseries does with a closer look at the event. Expect the miniseries to air on the Paramount Network next year.
