Internationally acclaimed artist Chris LaBrooy has a client list with quite a few of your favorite brands (Apple, Nike, Time, Target, the list goes on), but our favorite works of his might be the digital 3D sculptures where he bends cars and reality to create something surreal and mind-blowing. It started with “Tales of Auto Elasticity,” which was a collection inspired by endless highways on road trips through California. The concept and body of work expanded to include additional series titled “Tokyo,” “Auto Aerobics” and “Cut & Shut,” each of which features a similar reality-bending idea with different vehicles as focal points. Toyota AE86. Honda (Acura) NSX. Datsun 240Z. Datsun Skyline GTR. VW Bugs. Pontiacs. Classic pickups. Each one of those vehicles is cut, reshaped, expanded, interconnected or just completely warped until they’ve been transformed into a completely unique artistic sculpture that’s as implausible as it is fun to look at.
