Most people don’t even read greeting cards. They scan them like they were trying to get through The Great Gatsby. Why would you waste five bucks on a card that doesn’t even garner a reaction when you could spend the same amount on one that guarantees it? (It’s probably the reason the “Get Well/Sympathy” section is, at the moment, completely empty.) There are, by the way, some cards that are just straight-up funny and could be used a bit more freely.
