Oddly Satisfying Animations

We live in an age when can have entire conversations with animated videos and gifs. We’ve seen our fair share mesmerizing animations over the years, but few are as oddly satisfying as the series of the same name from Andreas Wannerstedt. The Stockholm-based designer, motion graphic artist and art director creates perfectly looping 3D animations that are like digital versions of Rube Goldberg machines with abstract twists that wouldn’t be possible in real life. They’re so simple and yet so enthralling that you could watch them for hours on end, regardless of subject matter. As Wannerstedt told VICE, “It all began with a simple animation where different moving objects just avoided each other. I found the animation to be pretty hypnotic and satisfying to look at, so I kept exploring this. [Soon], the animations started to attract a lot of attention on Instagram, and also some forums around the web.” Here’s hoping he doesn’t stop producing more any time soon.
