Whether you’re talking Scotch, Japanese whisky, rye whiskey, bourbon or everything in between, it’s safe to say we’ve written a whiskey bucket list about your brown liquor of choice. There’s one outlier that we’ve never reported on before that’s absolutely worth knowing about because their single barrel bourbon just won a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for the second year in a row–Ben Milam. Based out of, and only available in, Texas, Ben Milam is a small distillery started by Marsha Milam, first cousin six-times removed from the man himself and also one of the co-founders of the Austin Film Festival. More important than either of their pedigrees is the whiskey they’re producing. The Single Barrel Bourbon has almost as many gold medals as Jordan has rings. The Small Batch Rye and Barrel Proof Bourbon are both delicious whiskeys and won individual golds on their own merits. In other words, if you’ve never heard of or tried Ben Milam, it’s time for a trip to Texas to pick some up.

You don’t need to be an international man of mystery for there to be value in the ability to pick a lock. Whether you have a penchant for forgetting your keys or just want to be there for friends and neighbors, learning to pick locks is a worthwhile skill. But that doesn’t mean you should go practicing on your front door; officers might not like that. Instead, get yourself this Lock Pick Training Kit, which includes a set of tools and a see-through padlock so you can watch what’s happening while you practice.
