Summit Prairie Lookout

Anyone who’s played Firewatch knows that a lookout tower is the ideal place to take in the scenery. All those shades of orange when the sun sets and all the lush green swaths of land are best appreciated from above. Now you can live a little of the game–without the whole missing teenagers thing. Situated on 160 acres of private land in Douglas County, Oregon, the Summit Prairie Lookout was built in 2009 and modeled after fire towers originally built in the early 1900s. Unlike those old lookouts, this one is outfitted with a full kitchen, fridge, heater, and more creature comforts to make your stay better than the people who watched for fires a hundred years ago. You can book your stay for 2018 now through Airbnb.
