Outside of the stock “bumper” case that you pretty much have to buy by default, there isn’t a long list of quality iPhone 4 accessories that can be yours for less than $50. Don’t get us wrong, the iPhone is great for typing quick emails, browsing and texting, but it isn’t a laptop or even an iPad. The speaker is tinny tiny and the screen leans towards the cute end of the spectrum. Sooner or later you’re going to come across something that looks or sounds too small to be of any use to you. Which is where the Hive comes in. The concave chamber in the base projects sounds up and out using physics we don’t understand, and the Fresnel lens provides crystal clear 2x magnification for the screen. Your buttons are still accessible and it doesn’t use any juice. It’s non-invasive augmentation for your most precious plaything.
