Tyvek is the building material equivalent of duct tape. Come to think of it, if more things were made of the durable, waterproof material that coats houses pre-siding and FedEx uses to ship stuff, the world probably wouldn’t need as much duct tape. You can find Tyvek wallets and bags and sacks and packing material and obviously it’s good for protecting houses during construction and shipping, but there has to be more uses for DuPont’s magic material. The people behind Civic Duty thought the same thing so they decided to use it to make sneakers. Using environmentally friendly glues and dyes and pre-wrinkled Tyvek, Civic Duty has created a complete line of unisex sneakers that will give Cons a run for their money when it comes to staying power. Everything from bright yellow high-tops to familiar toe-capped low-tops is available decked out in Tyvek.
