Matthew McConaughey is best known for two things. That chest thumping scene from The Wolf of Wall Street and “alright, alright, alright.” Now, Wild Turkey has added to his repertoire. Last week, his introductory short film, the first of the new campaign, was published and the results are, well, surprisingly heartfelt. Both sides are earnest in their desire to share Wild Turkey bourbon and the chemistry between the Russells, the family that owns and operates Wild Turkey, and McConaughey appears genuine. McConaughey’s voice-over provides interesting information in an engaging way and the short video is shot, if not quite expertly, then at least with artistic care and integrity. The casks look traditional, the bourbon looks enticing, and the tastings spark a bit of envy. You can almost smell the angel’s share drifting through the barrel storehouse. Plus, the way McConaughey says “bourbon” basically sounds like bourbon tastes.
